Care instructions
Dear customer!
We are delighted that you have chosen a terry product from Herka.
We hope you enjoy our terry products, which are manufactured exclusively in Austria. Please note that no washed items can be returned.
- WASHING: Wash terry towels at least twice before use! Washing causes the yarn to swell, the loop is held tighter and the fabric becomes more resilient. Well-intentioned, but wrong: the first wash at a cold or gentle temperature. Bright and brilliant colors can “bleed” at low temperatures. At a recommended washing temperature of 60°, the colors remain washfast, wash white laundry at a high temperature, the fabric “felts”, the loop strength is thereby increased. Never use terry weaving unwashed!
- SORTING: You should wash terry towels separately for light and dark colors as usual. In the case of dark colors, excess dye can easily settle during the first wash. Therefore, do not leave damp towels on top of each other for a long time, as this can also lead to discoloration.
- DOSAGE: Always dose detergent according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If too much detergent is used, residues may settle on the fibers, the cotton fibers may harden and the colors may fade.
- USE COLOR DISINFECTANT: Heavy-duty detergents contain bleaching agents and optical brighteners. You should only use these detergents for white laundry. Optical brighteners sit on the surface of the fibers, causing an additive change. Color detergents are therefore recommended as they do not contain optical brighteners. The color of the cloths is retained.
- NO/LESS fabric softener: Be careful with too much fabric softener. It adheres to the cotton fibers like a film, reducing absorbency and water absorption. Fabric softeners also encourage lint formation. You can do without such additives if you use a tumble dryer. Air entrapment makes terry weaving very soft and fluffy.
- PROPERLY FILLED DRUM TO PREVENT LINT FORMATION: It is normal for new terry towels to fluff a little at first. High-pile laundry in particular can initially shed loose fibers. To prevent heavy and persistent fluffing, the washing drum should not be over- or underloaded. A properly filled drum prevents excessive rubbing against the drum and therefore lint formation.
- SIMPLY CUTTING THREADS: You should not pull out pulled threads but simply cut them short. Do not pull the thread, but cut it off at pile height. To avoid pulled threads, you should not wash terry towels with items that have zippers, etc.
- NATURAL PRODUCT CO TTON: Our terry towels are woven from the natural product cotton and therefore cannot be 100% shrink-proof. Pull the laundry into shape in a semi-moist state.
These recommendations guarantee cuddly and long-lasting towelling pleasure!
Yours sincerely from the Waldviertel
